DOE CRITERIA

 

 

We utilize on-farm performance testing and the following criteria to select and evaluate does.

 

Growth Evalaution

• Weaning

• Post-weaning

• Doe weights

• Offspring weights

 

Structural Soundness

• Obvious female characteristics

• Good muscling

• Solid body confirmation

• Strong legs

• Feminine head and neck

 

Health

• Solid and low maintenance feet

• High parasite residence

• Good mouth and teeth

• Good endurance

• Clear and shiny coat

• At least 1.5 years old before breeding

 

Reproduction

• Consistent estrous cycles

• Healthy and well shaped vulva

• Becomes pregnant with 2 services or less

• Carries pregancy to term

• Little to no birthing assistance

• Multiple births

 

Mothering

• Excellent mothering qualities

• High udder quality

• Good milk production

• Raise kids to weaning unassisted

 

Other

• Able to quickly and easily adapt to new surroundings

• Be manageable during health checks, etc.

• Little to no desire to jump fences

• Intelligent and confident

• Solid and proven bloodline history
